Connect and Notify process

Guidance for Charge Point Operators on ‘Connect and Notify’ process for Existing Unmetered Supplies.

A "Connect and Notify" process for the installation of EV Charge Points (EVCPs) to existing unmetered supplies is now available. This self-serve process involves the Charge Point Operator (CPO) performing the required steps to determine if the existing connection is suitable for a charge point installation, following the steps set out below.

It allows CPOs to perform the checks, do the installation and notify us in batches of installation - providing certain criteria are met.

Preparation

There are three steps to prepare for the Connect and Notify approval process.

Pre-approval surgery

In the next stage the CPO is assessed on its ability to comply with NGED policy.

Installation

After approval, the CPO can make installations in the Local Authority it has been approved in.

Notification

To complete the process, the CPO must notify NGED of installations within 28 days of installation.
