We help to keep the lights on for the Midlands, South West and Wales, by delivering electricity across our network to homes and businesses.
We deliver electricity to over 8 million customers over a 55,500 square kilometres service area and we employ over 6,500 staff.
Find out who distributes and supplies your electricity and how to contact them.
A Distribution Network Operator (or a 'DNO' for short) is responsible for delivering high and low voltage electricity across an electricity network, through power lines and underground cables. We are not a supplier - an electricity supplier is a company you pay your electricity bills to. Suppliers pay us to make use of our network (roughly £100 of your total bill per year).
We can help with queries about connecting your property, power cuts or moving your meter. Find out more about power cuts here.
We are proud of our excellent customer service. Our ethos is to 'Get it right, first time, every time'.
A guide to our customer services
Our key guiding principles are:
National Grid Electrcitiy Transmission manages the high voltage (132kV - 400kV) electricity transmission network in England and Wales. For all new high voltage customer connections (generally above 50MW of capacity) across generation and demand, please visit our page.
Understand the rules, regulations and legislation covering network connections.
Connections are what give you access to our power network. You can apply for a new connection through us - this might be, for example, to provide electricity to a new property or to connect an electric vehicle charging point to our network. You can also apply to make a change to an existing connection, such as changing the capacity or diverting cables.
We're here to help you get connected.
