Heat pumps

You can apply to connect a heat pump to our network by using our online form below, or completing a paper application. 

Apply to connect a heat pump

You can use our online application form to: 

  • Apply for a heat pump connection
  • Notify us of an existing heat pump installation

The form will take around 15 minutes to complete.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Property / site postcode or location
  • MPAN (meter point administration number)
  • Maximum demand of electricity supply
  • Heat pump make and model
  • Your contact information

If you would prefer to download the form that you need and then return it completed to us, you can do so by clicking here.

You can either email or post your completed application to your regional office. Make sure to include any supporting documentation that the application form has requested.

Once received, you will hear back from us within 10 working days with the next steps to getting your heat pump connected.

What’s included in your connection?

Your connections offer will take into account if any retrospective works are required. This process is:  

  1. Complete an application and we will assess it to ensure we have the ‘minimum information’ required. If not, we may ask you for some more details. 
  2. We may need to arrange some retrospective works to your equipment, such as a fuse upgrade. In some cases, we may arrange for your local NGED office to get in touch with you to arrange a visit.
  3. Internal wiring and installation of your electric heating must be carried out by a qualified electrician
