Unmetered supply

Unmetered equipment includes street lamps and traffic signals - anything which needs an electricity supply but doesn’t require a meter. 

Does my request meet the criteria for an unmetered supply?

The Electricity (Unmetered Supply) Regulations 2001 have set up strict criteria to decide what is eligible for an unmetered connection.

This includes: 

  • Having a predictable load 
  • The demand at each load point should be below 500W 
  • The total supply load beyond the Supply Point should not exceed 5KW (per fuse way)
